Amplify
Volume boost up to 600% that works in fullscreen. Open-source, MIT licensed.

The problem
Browser volume controls max out at 100%, but many videos and streams are mastered too quietly. Existing volume boost extensions break in fullscreen, inject ads, or request permissions they shouldn’t need.
What we built
Amplify is a clean, privacy-respecting volume booster for Chrome and Firefox. It uses the Web Audio API to amplify any tab’s audio up to 600% — and it works in fullscreen mode, which most competitors can’t do.
How it works
- Web Audio API creates a gain node in the audio pipeline — no recording, no data collection
- Fullscreen support via proper content script injection
- Simple slider UI with preset levels (100%, 200%, 400%, 600%)
- Zero permissions abuse — only requests what it needs
Results
Live on Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons. Open-sourced under MIT license on GitHub. Built as a demonstration that browser extensions can be useful without being invasive.
